Camp Hebron hit by confirmed tornado May 29

With 2019 not even halfway complete, the tornado count in Pennsylvania – still unofficial at this point – is approaching 30. One of those twisters touched down in the Sentinel’s coverage area, according to the National Weather Service. It happened in Halifax Twp. at about 4:24 p.m. May 29, when circular winds reached the ground near Route 225 north of Matamoras Road and traveled 2.5. miles in an east-southeast direction. In its path was Camp Hebron, a Christian camping and retreat center on the eve of its busiest time of the year. The tornado – which lasted less than five minutes – left behind scores of uprooted or
