SELINSGROVE • Barbara Ann (Heckert) Dangler, 85, went home with her Lord and Savior Feb. 5, 2020, at The Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, Pa. She was born Dec. 13, 1934, on Turkey Hill, Dalmatia, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Wm. Thomas and S. Pearl (White) Heckert. She graduated from Mahanoy Joint High School Class of 1952. On June 4, 1954, she joined with Paul S. Dangler in marriage at the parsonage in Herndon, Pa., by the late Rev. Jacob Singer. They were married 41 years at the time of his passing in 1995. Barb was of the Christian faith, having been a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church, Herndon, Pa., in 1980, of which a preschool was formed. Barb was a creative person with many interests and hobbies. Among them were photography, genealogy, creative cooking, sewing, quilting, baking, landscaping, gardening, flowers and ornamental trees. She especially enjoyed traveling to 39 states, Canada and Mexico. She loved meeting new people and spending time with her family. She spent her early years in childcare and custodial work. At age 16 while still in school she was employed at Hilltop Diner, Dalmatia, Pa., as a short order cook, dishwasher, waitress, service station attendant. She also worked at Troutman’s Restaurant, Millersburg, Pa., as a waitress and dishwasher. Other employment was Dalmatia Footwear, Regal Shirt, Muskin Shoe and retiring from Seal Glove Mfg. in 2000, Millersburg. She played a short time with LNSCS Kitchen Band. She is survived by a daughter, Diane Schaffner and husband Dean; a granddaughter, Christine Smith and husband Kevin; a grandson, Ryan Schaffner, all of Dalmatia; a sister, Virginia Shrawder, Dalmatia; a brother, Thomas Heckert and wife Sally, White Deer; nieces and nephews. At Barb’s request there will be no viewing or visitation. A memorial for her and Paul can be found at Veteran’s Section, Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington, Pa. Arrangements by Olley-Gotlob Funeral Home, Sunbury, Pa. Contributions in her memory may be given to Faith Lutheran Preschool, Herndon, Pa.
