Anthony W. ‘Tony’ Ochenrider
SABINSVILLE • Anthony W. “Tony” Ochenrider, 69, of Sabinsville, Pa., formerly of Millersburg, died Aug. 6, 2020, at Lakeland Regional Palliative Care Unit of Lakeland Fla. He was born May 18, 1951, in Upper Paxton Twp., the son of Geraldine (Hoy) and Theodore Ochenrider. Tony proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1977, the U.S. Army National Guard from 1977-1978 and was retired from NAVSISA, Mechanicsburg, and Home & Hearth, Halifax. Tony was a record-winning football and basketball athlete for Millersburg High School with defensive records still unbroken in basketball. After graduation and military service, he also excelled in softball with several local pickup teams in the valley and bowling. Tony was a member of the Galeton Moose Lodge, the Millersburg American Legion and lifetime member of the Gratz VFW Post No. 2385. In addition to sports, Tony loved hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends, whom he loved unconditionally, especially at his home in Sabinsville. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cathy (Keister) Ochenrider, a brother James (Theresia) Ochenrider; a sister, Gloria (Charles) Strohecker; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tony was preceded in death by his brother Keith Ochenrider. A local memorial service and graveside burial with military honors will be held at a later date.
