HALIFAX • Nancy Elizabeth Norton, 71, of Deitrich Road, went home to be with our Heavenly Father, and was reunited with loved ones again, at 9:28 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. Born March 18, 1950, in Lewistown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late James H. and Betty G. (Hockenberry) Heeter. She is survived, and missed tremendously by: her husband of 36 years, William J. Norton, Jr., who refers to her as the “love of his life.” Also surviving are her beloved children: Jeremy A. Fisher of Halifax, Amanda E. Spotts (Adam Spotts) also of Halifax; brother, James K. Heeter, of Lewistown, and two nieces: Megan E. Bowers and Lyndie M. Sipe, both of Lewistown. Her love of laughter, life and lasting legacy will live on in the lives of her precious grandchildren, whom she loved more than life itself: Riley E. and Callen H. Fisher, and Arabella G. Spotts. Nancy graduated in 1968, from Chief Logan High School in Lewistown, and was very proud of her beloved “Mingoes” and loved to recall countless memories from her childhood, school day shenanigans and nursing school antics at the Harrisburg Hospital, where she graduated from in 1971. Working as a registered nurse at local hospitals, as well as the Harrisburg Hospital (or the Hotel Pinnacle, as she called it), she touched the lives of everyone she met. Whether it was a co-worker, colleague, patient or a patient’s family, she prided herself in caring for others, and her bed-side manner was truly remarkable. She also worked as a visiting nurse and a special education aide at Halifax School District, where she left a lasting impression on the lives of countless youth. Nancy loved God, traveling, spending time at her camper, fishing, reading, relaxing with her faithful companion Punky, going for Sunday drives, cheering on her favorite Penn State Nittany Lions, catching up with long-lost friends on Facebook, visiting and reconnecting with old friends and forever making new ones. She was a social butterfly unlike any other, and loved nothing more than spending time with her family who adored her and will miss her greatly, but rejoice in the eternal comfort of knowing she is in a much better place, free of all earthly pain and sorrow. To all those who have had the ultimate blessing and pleasure of knowing this beautiful soul, you will surely remember her infectious smile, her contagious laughter that warmed the hearts of many, her uncanny ability to relate to others, and her compassion for those around her was out of this world. She was a friend to all and loved by all. A celebration of Nancy’s beautiful life will be held at a later date, where everyone will be welcome to join and share in her memory, the way she would have wanted. Please help her family keep the memory of this kindred spirit alive and smiling in your hearts and minds and always remember: “Don’t worry, be happy!” Hoover-Boyer Funeral Home Ltd., Elizabethville, a Minnich Funeral location, is handling the arrangements.
