TOWER CITY • Alma M. Bettinger, 98, of Tower City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Born July 8, 1922, in Tremont, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Charlotte Ellen Drum Leininger. Alma was a graduate of Porter Twp. High School. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Reinerton, where she was active in the choir and with the kitchen committee. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in her yard. In Alma’s younger years, she worked at Trotman’s Restaurant, Knoff’s Ice Cream and the refreshment stand at Tower City pool. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior “Patch” Bettinger, 2016; a son-in-law, Paul Corl, 2020; and an infant brother, Jackie Leininger. She is survived by her three children, SueAnn M. Corl of League City, Tex., Hedy M. Spencer (Richard) of Harrisburg and Rodney L. Bettinger of Tower City; five grandchildren, Steven Rodichok (Renee) of Chicago, Ill., Joseph Rodichok (Kim) of Indiana, Pa., Gwen Parsons (George) of Lykens, Angie Lentz (Steve) of Harrisburg and Tyler Bettinger (Angela) of Tower City; one great-grandson, Alex Rodichok, Tower City. Due to COVID-19, services will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations in Alma’s memory can be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 1931 Wiconisco St., Tower City PA 17980.
