High School Boys' Soccer
Williams Valley, Millersburg in league playoffs

As the 2017 boys’ soccer regular season ends, both Millersburg and Williams Valley are certain for the postseason, while Halifax is awaiting word on whether it will earn a playoff spot in District 3, Class 1A.

Millersburg finished second in the Tri-Valley League East Division and faces Greenwood tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 17) in Millerstown in the opening round of the  league championship series.

High School Girls' Soccer
Indians and Vikings to
play for respective
league crowns

As of press time for this week’s issue, both the Millersburg and Williams Valley girls’ soccer teams were in contention for their respective league titles (Tri-Valley and Schuylkill).

Both teams play tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 17). Millersburg, the TVL South Division champ, hosts Juniata at 6 p.m. Williams Valley, a wild-card entrant, faces Blue Mountain at Lehighton Area High School in the Schuylkill semifinal.

High School Volleyball
Cats, Indians and Trojans
are in hunt for playoffs

The 2017 regular season for area high school volleyball has concluded. Three teams – Halifax, Millersburg and Upper Dauphin Area – remain in contention for the postseason in either league or district play.

As of press time, the Wildcats and Trojans were scheduled to meet Oct. 16 to determine the Schuylkill League Division 3 championship. (Both finished 10-4).

High School Football
With Line Mountain win over Newport, Williams Valley sits alone atop league

Williams Valley is alone atop the Tri-Valley League standings after a wild night of local football action Oct. 13.

Line Mountain upset previously unbeaten Newport 27-14 to give the Vikings – who dismantled winless Millersburg the same evening – sole possession of first place in the league.
