Notice to Contractors

Jackson Township will receive sealed proposals in their office at 450 Bastian Road Halifax, PA 17032, (717) 362-9909, until 7:15 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014 for roadway paving of Bastian Road,  and milling and installation of waterproof membrane on Bastian Road Bridge.

Specifications and bid forms upon which all bids must be submitted may be obtained at their office at 450 Bastian Road, Dauphin, PA 17018 beginning Tuesday, July 22, 2014.  A non-refundable fee of $20.00 will be charged for each bid packet.  Checks must be made payable to Jackson Township.

A Pre-Bid Conference will be held at the Jackson Township Municipal Building, 450 Bastian Road, Halifax, PA 17032, on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 3:30 p.m.  Attendance at the Pre-Bid Conference is recommended but not required.

Bid documents may be examined at the Township office between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, beginning Tuesday, July 22, 2014, until bid closing.

Bidders will be required to provide bid security in the amount of 10% of the proposal.  A certified check or bid bond will be accepted.

Refer to instructions to bidders for further information.

Contract to use prevailing wage rates as determined by the Secretary of the Department of Labor and Industry.  These rates must be paid by the contractor.  Employees shall not be discriminated against because of race, color, age, religion, sex, or national origin.

The owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or portions of all offers.  All offers shall be marked and identified on the outside of the envelope as “Bastian Road Project 2014”.

Notice is Hereby Given that the Mifflin Township Board of Supervisors, Mifflin Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, intends to adopt an Ordinance at its regular meeting to be held on August 12, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. in the Mifflin Township Municipal Building located at 543 Municipal Road, Mifflin Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, enacting an amendment to the Mifflin Township Act 167 Storm Water Management Ordinance to allow for certain exemptions for agricultural uses. Public Notice

At its next public meeting on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. at the Dauphin Borough Municipal Building located at 200 Church Street, Dauphin, Pennsylvania  17018, the Dauphin Borough Council will consider for adoption Ordinance No. 2014-01 entitled:  “An Ordinance of the Borough of Dauphin, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania Amending Chapter 10 of the Code of Ordinances for Dauphin Borough by Adding thereto a New Part 4 for the Purposes of Prohibiting Noxious Vegetation and Restricting Height of Vegetation Generally; Providing for Abatement as a Nuisance; Establishing Procedures for Enforcement and Prescribing Penalties for Violation.”  Ordinance No. 2014-01 amends Chapter 10 of the Code of Ordinances for Dauphin Borough by adding thereto a new Part 4 for the purpose of prohibiting noxious vegetation and restricting height of vegetation generally within Dauphin Borough.  Any vegetative growth found to be in violation of the Ordinance is declared a public nuisance detrimental to the health, safety, cleanliness and comfort of the inhabitants of the Borough.  In the event a property owner or occupant fails to maintain and remove vegetation in compliance with the Ordinance, the Borough may enter upon private property to abate any such public nuisance and assess the cost thereof, together with a penalty of ten percent, to be collected from such owner or occupant.  Furthermore, the Ordinance provides that, in the event any person violates any provision of the Ordinance, upon conviction thereof, such individual may be sentenced to pay a fine not more than $600.00 and in default of payment, to undergo imprisonment for a term not to exceed thirty (30) days.  A true and correct copy of Ordinance No. 2014-01 is available for public inspection at the Dauphin Borough Municipal Building located at 200 Church Street, Dauphin, Pennsylvania during regular business hours.
